ONE. On a Personal Note
Hard Stuff

"The divisiveness, the wars, the trauma, and the harshness in the world can pull me down, pull you down, pull any of us down to our knees if we don’t find sources of comfort, connection, nourishment, and gratitude.
Yet it is a delicate balance to stay informed and not be ignorant, to do what we can to be the change we want to see, while also reminding ourselves to appreciate a beautiful sunrise or sunset.
Perhaps the best we can do is in the midst of chaos, find stillness. In the face of adversity, find gratitude."
Uplifting Stuff

This old man is my man, mine for decades. We were both 17 at a high school party. While he was in his second year of university studying chemistry, I was struggling with self-loathing and failing Grade 12. But at that high school dance, somehow I mustered the courage to ask this once-shy young man to dance. And from that moment on, he was my special some-one.
Don’t misunderstand me—we’ve argued, and we’ve repeatedly done relationship repair, but we’ve always been there for each other, especially him for me. After having children, I experienced significant mental health challenges, and he was a rock, supporting me through years of therapy and eventually I became a therapist myself.
Les loves me, our kids, canoeing adventures, fishing, nature, and our cat, Misha. He cooks, repairs, gases up the car, and is an involved Rotarian. We attend Sunday service together, co-support our family members with disabilities, and watch evening television with Misha curled between us. I’m so blessed to have a safe place in him to land.
If you have someone in your life who creates emotional safety for you, who is there for you — friend, family or lover — I imagine you express your gratitude. And I don’t know about you but I feel warm inside saying, “Thank you. I feel loved.”
Note: the above message is husband approved. 🙂
In the meantime, here’s to your continued resilience,
Patricia ❤️🐞

The headlines were filled with cycling champion, Lance Armstrong’s lying, deception, and cheating. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey (televised January 17, 2013) he said, “I went and looked up the definition of cheat . . . the definition is to gain an advantage on a rival or foe. I did not view it that way. I viewed it as a level playing field.” . . CLICK HERE
